Cruise Ship Meet and Greet Tender Documents Issued

Following budget approval from a general meeting of the Full Council yesterday (6 December) tender documents have now been posted on the Public Contracts Scotland Portal for a 2 year contract Meet and Greet Service for the period 2012-13.
Michael Morrison, business development manager at Orkney Islands Council said ''The Meet and Greet Service is a key component of the cruise industry in Orkney and with over 47,000 passenges and 15,000 crew expected to arrive in Orkney next year, the Meet and Greet Service will be the first point of contact for the passengers and crew; there fore it is extremely important that we have a polished service in place providing tourist, shuttle bus and general information on Orkney at the quayside.
Orkney has witnessed considerable growth in its cruise ship business over the last 3 years and 2012 will see a rise in gross tonnage of 38% on 2011 figures and a further rise of 30% on passenger numbers for the same period.
