Cruise season draws to an end at Greenock Ocean Terminal

The 2011 cruise season at Greenock Ocean Terminal has almost come to an end, bringing to a conclusion the most successful year on record at the Terminal. In total there will be 35 cruise calls this year, with two remaining calls from the luxury cruise vessel Hebridean Princess still to come in November. Over 57,000 visitors will have passed through the terminal by the end of this year, which represents a 192% increase in passenger numbers since 2007.

Costa Pacifica has sailed into the record books at Lerwick, with the 114,500 gross tonnes vessel becoming the largest cruise ship yet to visit the Shetland port, just four days after the 113,651 gross tonnes Crown Princess broke the previous record.

The Grand Princess brought over 2,500 passengers into the enhanced Cruise Terminal, many of whom embarked on tours of the many attractions available, including Glasgow, Loch Lomond, Stirling and Edinburgh, or explore the local area.
