4 hours Aberdeen - The Silver City
Aberdeen is situated 30 miles South of Peterhead. It has unique architecture, characterised by the grey granite buildings. The mile long Union Street, the main thoroughfare and shopping street is lined by fine buildings and built on a series of bridges.
The City has been the winner of the Britain in Bloom contest ten times. Duthie Park is home to two millions roses and the largest indoor gardens in Europe.
Old Aberdeen is a hidden treasure with its medieval buildings and cobbled streets. King's College is one of the oldest Universities in the UK and St Machar's Cathedral is famous for its stunning heraldic ceiling. -
4 hours Museum Of Scottish Lighthouses
Fraserburgh lighthouse was the first in Scotland and the only one to be built on top of an ancient fortified castle. It was built by the famous engineer Robert Stevenson.
Previous lighthouse keepers offer excellent tours with a personal touch. Preserved as it was left by the last keeper in 1991, the lighthouse offers a fitting tribute to its 200 years of stormy history. The site is the location of the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses which offers the best collection of lighthouse paraphernalia in the UK and tells the fascinating story of the skills, dedication, science and romance of Scotland's lighthouses. -
8 hours Castles And Distilleries
Fyvie Castle is one of the finest in Scotland. Five majestic towers give the castle an air of majesty. Inside are fine collections of paintings and armour from the Kings and Queens who lived here. Special events can be organised, such as battle re-enactments, or recounting ghostly stories from past inhabitants.
A meal stop at Morgan McVeigh's can be combined with shopping for hand crafted goods, country wear and quality local foods.
Glenfiddich distillery offers an excellent and evocative multi-lingual audio-visual display as an introduction to the tour which allows guests to see how the 'water of life' is made. Guests are then offered a 'dram'. -
4 hours Pitmedden Gardens
Originally laid out in 1675 the gardens were re-created by the National Trust in the 1950s. The elaborate and formal layout which incorporates no less than 30,000 annual plants and over five miles of boxwood hedges maintains colour throughout the summer and is a sight not to be missed.
After Haddo or Pitmedden the tour can continue to Aberdeen, known as the Silver City because its granite buildings sparkle in the sun. On arrival to the City, lunch can be arranged in one of the historic rooms of the splendid setting of the 500 year old University at King's College. -
4 hours Haddo House
Passing through the Haddo Country Park, guests will arrive at Haddo House, home of Lady Aberdeen whose ancestors have lived here since 1732. In this stately home, guests follow in distinguished footsteps, from British Prime Ministers, royal visitors, great politicians and musical celebrities.
Haddo House is also home to a choral and operatic society in which Prince Edward is regularly involved. Although a stately home, Haddo exudes a family atmosphere which will make guests feel warmly welcome. Refreshments can be served on the rose terrace to the music of a Silver Band. -
8 hours Fine Art And A Taste Of Scotland
Duff House is the first stop after a journey through the rolling Buchan countryside. It is an imposing masnion premier outstation of the National Galleries of Scotland from which it has drawn its rich collection of paintings.
Baxter's Highland village. What started as a small grocery shop in 1868 is now a world famous family run business. Guests step back in time in the old village shop and can enjoy the unique food theatre to see how Baxter's products are made
The food theme makes Baxters an ideal stop for lunch, with a choice of restaurants. Excellent shopping opportunities feature high quality Scottish goods including the full range of Baxter's products.
