Portree welcomes its largest ever cruise ship

Portree welcomed its largest ever cruise ship on Friday 20 August when Holland America Line’s Westerdam called at the port.
The 82,500 gross tonne ship visited Portree as part of a 12 night round Britain cruise. Most of the ship’s 1,907 passengers spent time ashore visiting attractions such as Eilean Donan Castle, Talisker Distillery, Dunvegan Castle or simply enjoying shopping in Portree.
To mark the occasion of her maiden call, Highland Council presented Captain Henk Keijer with an engraved plaque.
Westerdam was one of 15 cruise ships booked to visit Portree this year, carrying some 9,000 passengers, breaking all previous records.
