Ullapool Harbour awards contract for dedicated Cruise Tender Pontoon
Published: 12 March 2010
Ullapool Harbour Trustees are delighted to announce the installation of a new purpose built leisure pontoon to serve the needs of cruise ship passengers.
The 40 metre pontoon will be situated on the sheltered inside face of the pier and will be accessible at all times and tides.
As predominantly a tender port for visiting cruise ships, Ullapool Harbour has in the past used the ferry linkspan to disembark passengers. In the main this has served the needs of all concerned reasonably well, although during ferry arrivals cruise passengers sometimes found themselves experiencing the occasional delay.
The new pontoon components are currently being manufactured by Varis Engineering and will be installed by Monday 3 May 2010, in plenty time for the arrival of the first cruise ship of the 2010 season, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines "Braemar" on 25 May.
Ullapool Harbour will be exhibiting at the industry's leading international conference and exhibition, Cruise Shipping Miami, on the Cruise Scotland stand (636) from 15 - 18 March at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
